Long Island Shopping

I went to a fancy shmancy wedding this past weekend on Long Island. We drove for 6 hours total (we had to pick my brother up in Amherst first). When we got to the hotel an hour before the rehearsal dinner I turned to my boyfriend and said "Do you have our gray duffel bag?" the blank stare that was his reply spoke volumes. "I thought you had it." he said to me.

Oh dear I thought. Luckily all of our fancy clothing was in garment bags which we did remember to bring. We were only missing basics:nice shoes, his cumber bun, my makeup and jewelry, all of our toiletries. My mom had jewelry and makeup I could borrow, my dad had a cumber bun he could borrow, and the front desk at the hotel had toothbrushes and tooth paste. The shoes however were definitely a problem. Okay I admit it once I realized we weren't missing anything too important I was excited to go shopping.

We went to the Walt Whitman Mall. It was a nice mall, clean with stores that were way out of budget. We started in Macy's (in the hopes of finding the shoes I had originally bought to go with the dress) no luck. We made our way to Neiman Marcus. As I looked at the "sale" prices I nearly fell over. Definitely not where I was going to find the shoes I needed.

We ended up finding an acceptable pair at Bloomingdale's the price was okay, but you take what you can get in an emergency. In general I enjoyed my impromptu shopping experience, except for the fact that I forgot about tax on clothing on Long Island.
