The Gap: Another Retail Chain Trims

News outlets are pumping out the stories about how Gap’s CEO Glenn Murphy has pledged to reduce store frontage. This comes as no surprise to me - it seems like everyone is trimming as much as they can these days.

With gas prices going higher and higher, I’m guessing that most shoppers are leery to take a drive to the mall even. Maybe they’ll be shopping online? If that’s the case, what good is the brick and mortar?

Maybe, because the oil prices are rocketing (but maybe this is not like this in several months), there is another opportuntity for virtual business over brick and mortar ones. The problem is that the net looks like democratic, but really is very hard to fight against the big shops in Internet also. As in the real world, the virtual shops should be specialists, the rising in oil prices are not enough. Salvador Trinxet.
