Several news outlets including Reuters are reporting that the video rental retail store has offered to buy Circuit City for $1 billion. This would surprise me, to say the least. Several of the Blockbuster stores (as well as other video rental stores) have closed recently due to increased competition from DVD purchases, mail-order DVD rentals, and on-demand video rentals.
