Shopping for the Holidays

Retail Shops

So with the holiday hustle bustle and a toddler, I find myself more drawn to internet shopping than ever. I can’t deal with the parking, the long lines, the complainers in the lines, the unfriendly shoppers and staff- that is with the exception of Nordstrom. Yes- I am singing the praises of Nordstrom once again- I’ll get back to that later.

As for the internet- more companies are offering free shipping, discounts and deals right from the comfort of your own home. This year I bought from babycenter.com, gap.com, apple.com, backcountry.com, BarnesandNoble.com and Nordstrom.com. I skipped Amazon for my books this year- every year something in my order has arrived late, despite being ordered within the time frame they offer. And again 2.5 weeks before Christmas the books I chose (all 4) were scheduled to arrive Jan 2nd.

But there are some things I don’t want to order online- now back to Nordstrom. I am getting my parents some Ugg slippers- after looking on the net and coming up short on their sizes, I called Nordstrom and they had them and are sending them to me from the store near my house- free. Again and again, I go back with the same great experience. The staff were helpful and pleasant, and I didn’t have to get my daughter in the car, wait in line, or her get into mischief at the store. Besides a gift like that, that might not fit, I need to know there will be no hassles with the return and that I know and expect from Nordstrom. I always feel good giving a gift bought from there.

Happy shopping - be wise where you shop online, and if all else fails, go to Nordstrom - if you can.

I agree, crowds make in-store shopping very stressful. Only rarely do I enjoy shopping in-store, and when I do, I like to have ample time, ample funds, and few fellow shoppers, all of which are rarities.

For online shopping, I went with Amazon early and my books and gifts already arrived, so that's good.
