The local CVS I shop in has an LCD television mounted on a pillar near the checkout line for the pharmacy. I have to wonder about this.
- Does CVS get paid for showing the advertisements displayed?
- Does CVS have ultimate control over what gets displayed on the TV?
- Does CVS have to pay anything for the non-advertising content which gets displayed?
I’m sure we’ll see a lot more televisions in retail stores along waiting lines and product promotions. They are a double edged sword though. They may annoy customers if they are too distracting, but they do offer something to do while waiting in line.
What do you think about in-store televisions?
