Mystery Shops

I occasionally conduct mystery shops as a service. Here’s one I just reviewed for a dry cleaners:

The parking lot was empty so I pulled right in to a close spot. The building looks great, the blue awnings make a big difference. There is still more work, like some lights out front, and the entranceway could be remodeled. Upon pickup, I noticed that the glass door was cracked at the bottom left. The first CSR was very well spoken, I got the feeling she is a smart girl. She said “May I have your phone number” for instance, instead of “Can I have your phone number?” She confirmed my name “Mr.”, then asked “Just dropping off?” and “Would you like starch?” After that, she gave me my receipt, said the clothes would be ready after 6 on Monday. The second CSR looked at me when I walked in, calmly said hello, then finished up what she was doing, and said “I can help you over here, picking up?” She asked for my phone number, confirmed my name, and fetched my clothes, all very efficiently. She rang up my order, informed me of the total. I paid with a credit card, and then she looked at me, said thank you, and to have a nice night. There were no special instructions, in fact I only had three shirts done. They were packaged well as usual, but I did think it was a little expensive for only three shirts. I would definitely return to this location. The staff there seems really on the ball. The building is starting to match the quality of the staff, but the entry still needs to be fixed. Oh I also wanted to mention that there was a “home made” sign on the wall above the CSRs: “Ask us about our VIP program”. While well intentioned, its probably not a good idea to have that type of decoration. It doesn’t look professional.
